I totally agree with theother1, they gave us a grate Spring tourand will hopefully keep on giving. We can't have everything we want all the time, unfortunately, so folks like GDfan may need to find some GRATEFULNESS (or not, your choice) for all we DO get for free. I'm disappointed but I'll get by. And the folks that think it ended with Jerry are right that the Grateful dead ended there, however this is a different band brother, and there's much to enjoy (again, or not). But closed mindedness seldom works although many continue to try...Peace, StStephen49
Sunflower wrote on 7.4.2009 - 8:50pm EST
http://GDradio.net streamed all but four of the Dead's Spring 09 Tour within hours...Almost Live. There were shows that were less than good, some that were solid and some that were downright great. Totally consistent with their - 45 years- of touring. See that's the thing about live art, its a mystery and hopefully its magic.
jfabbs wrote on 7.4.2009 - 8:35pm EST

Wow, thats great GDfan. You're a class act. Here I am trying to enjoy a good show from my computer and i see you p.o.s. come out like that.
Accept that the passing of time has gotten the best of boys, there's nothing you can do about it. I love the shit out of the grateful dead, but u gotta learn to let go.
Railroad Earth is known for being the bluegrass band the Grateful Dead never were. and John Butler is just the shit.
No true Grateful Dead fan would post what you just did.

Hey Big Bear...Iclips would show ALL main stage acts if they had permission. No Deadcast tonite IS the band's decision, and no one really expected Dylan to be ok w/ it anyway. Also.. there were no official video streams on spring tour, just bootleg webcasts via Iphone, which we can only hope for tonite ;)
happykaren wrote on 7.4.2009 - 2:57pm EST
like many folks who have already posted here i am also extremely disappointed that The Dead will not be broadcast either for free or pay. we all know that this show really may be the last. no offense to the other fine bands including Jackie who i am enjoying right now. hope to see Jackie with Phil again very soon.

CB: no worries here, actually made it easier to watch the fireworks for me ... since I was going to lug my laptop with me and find a wireless connection. Again, it's not about anything being "free" ... I'd have paid a reasonable amount to see the dead. The thing is, when you keep getting emails & see other promo info for Rothbury on iclips ... it's a HUGE letdown not to see either of the top two bills (this is not to rag on the cheese!).

Dude, if you're big on bluegrass, check out Head For The Hills. Theyre big in The Fort Collins area of COlorado. They blew me away at Mishawaka this spring. Probably the best bluegrass I've seen. I bet they'll get bigger than Yonder or Railroad.
jjbrack wrote on 7.3.2009 - 7:07pm EST
hell ya man u exactly hit the nail right on the head. Both the Dead n Dylan have been around for so long n are not making anything new, so they can only do so much at their shows now. I love moe. and eoto because they play for fun and not the fame, and their music brings out such a great atmosphere. I was at summercamp n both moe. and eoto were two of my most favorite acts all weekend because they bring something different to every show which keeps you coming back for more.
og610 wrote on 7.3.2009 - 6:32pm EST
jjbrack - exactly my point: i love seeing these 'newish' bands like yonder, railroad, eoto, leftover salmon, moe., because every time they play a show, they give us 2 hour sets and play until the shut the place down. Of course the Grateful Dead are known for long sets and high energy, but at the Pepsi center, every few songs Bobby, Phill, and Warren would leave and the remaining members would play space. The Dead and Dylan just don't have the energy they had back in the day.
There's so much great talent out there just waiting to be heard, it makes sense to open your ears to everything that comes your way. Whats even greater is knowing that you are part of the scene that keeps these artists going; these new bands are playing for_you_, not for the money or the fame.
abulluck wrote on 7.3.2009 - 6:18pm EST
This set brings back great memories of Christmas '85. I was a wee-un at 6 and got my first Casio keyboard. Good times. This is massive.

abulluck wrote on 7.3.2009 - 6:15pm EST
MAS is a true artist. I mean that in the most sarcastic sense. I'm sure someone in the audience has a belt to give the feller. His pants are falling down. Huge faux pas!
jjbrack wrote on 7.3.2009 - 5:05pm EST
i would def agree with you og610. Both the Dead and Dylan are way past their prime. The only reason why their still touring is because they know people will just come for the hell of it, which proves your point about how everyone is there for the atmosphere and not the music. I was at summerfest to see tribe, and they threw down a sick show, but almost every person i was talking to there during the day were there for Dylan. All those people def. missed on a nasty tribe show. They played for 2 and half hours straight no stopping.

og610 wrote on 7.3.2009 - 4:27pm EST
I saw the dead at the pepsi center. it was a great time, but, not wanting to offend anyone, it was more about the gathering than about the music. Although there were some great musical moments, mainly during the acoustic set, it seems the boys' time is through. Same with Dylan IMO.
Again, I love both the dead and dylan, im not tryong to offend anyone, just posting my opinion :D
